The National Museums of Ancient Rome are formed by 4 buildings, the Maximum Palace, the Altemps Palace, the Balbi Crypt and the Baths of Diocletian. In them, we find works of art such as sculptures, paintings jewellery among many other collections.

The Roman National Museum is formed by four buildings distributed by the city of Rome. In the year 1890, during the unification of Italy, they founded the museum in order to collect antiquities from the 5th century BC to the 3rd century AD. One of the first collections that began to be completed was the archaeological works from the Kircherian Museum and Roman discoveries.
The main base of the four museums are the Diocletian baths, built by Michelangelo. The Maximum Palace was until 1960 the Jesuit school in Rome, where the high bourgeoisie studied. From that year on it became a museum, with collections of Greek sculptures and portraits. The Altemps Palace began to be part of the Roman Museum in 1982, in which you can find the most important collections of classical art in the city. The Balbi Crypt was built between 19 and 13 a.C. but was mainly known as a theatre that disappeared over the years.
With the adaptations over the years, in the 90s the collections were divided into the four buildings. And yes, with the same entrance you can visit all the museums, valid for 3 days.
Museums will be closed on Mondays and access to the public is allowed up to 1 hour before closing.
On December 24 and 31, museums will close at 6:00 p.m., with the last public admission at 5:00 p.m.
To make sure you do not run out of tickets when you arrive at one of the four museums, we recommend you buy the entrance tickets that will have to be exchanged at the ticket office of any of the four buildings.

In the Maximum Palace it has four floors; on the ground floor and the first the works that stand out most are the seated Púgil, the Lanzelloti Discóbolo, the sleeping Hermaphrodite and the prudish Aphrodite. On the second floor, you can see frescoes and Roman mosaics. Finally, in the basement, collections of numismatics and jewellery from the Roman era. The Altemps Palace is named after the works that enriched the museum with collections by Altemps, Cesi and Orsini and Dal Drago Albani; It has Greek and Roman sculptures.
In the Baths of Diocletian, the base of the four museums, you can visit part of what remains of the building and the interior decorations with stucco and frescoes. The Balbi Crypt holds exhibitions of life in ancient Rome of the fifth and tenth centuries and remains of the excavations of the crypt.
